The best way to register for the Walk is online. By registering online, you receive your own Personal Walk Page, where friends, family, and coworkers can donate to you directly online or join your Walk Team. This webpage is just one of the tools available through your participant center. 

After registering online, take a few minutes to customize your Personal Walk Page photo and story. Participants who update these pages with their photo and messages raise 10 to 12 times more than those who leave the provided images and messages.

How much money do you hope to raise for the Walk? How much will your Walk Team raise? How many walkers would you like to be part of the Walk team? Setting goals gives you and your supporters something for which to strive. 

One of the easiest and most effective ways to raise money for the Walk is to launch an email Letter Campaign from your participant center. You can reach many potential supporters by drafting a “Dear family and friends” letter explaining why you are participating in the Walk & ask for support. Participants who send letters/emails to their contacts raise an average of 5 to 10 times more funds. 

We’re finding that it’s a very popular and successful option for people to use to reach their fundraising goals. 

The average check or cash donation a walker receives is $25, while the average online donation is over $60. Asking your supporters to make donations directly online by visiting your Personal Walk Page makes it easy to quickly surpass your fundraising goal. Another perk? Donors receive instant acknowledgment letters for tax purposes via email when they contribute online. 

The average participant raises $100 for the Walk. You can easily do this by asking ten people for $10 each. Or try asking four people for $25 each. You will be shocked at how quickly you raise $100! 

Everyone loves a party! Host a party at home or work and ask for contributions from guests. Try a barbeque, pizza party, luau, ice cream social, movie or bingo night, progressive dinner…whatever you desire. 

Matching Gift programs are company-sponsored programs that match employee contributions supporting efforts like the Walk. Corporate matching gifts are an excellent way for donors to maximize personal contributions to the Walk and increase the impact of their gifts – quickly turning a $50 donation into $100, $150, or more! Ask your company if they have a Matching Gifts program.
